Earth day!

It's Earth Day! I remember what I was doing on the first one: cleaning out a streambed in my home town of Endicott, NY. We piled up a head-high conglomeration of trash, in spite of the snow flurries that dogged our efforts that day.

It was an honor to work with Kentucky's Department of Environmental Protection in Frankfort KY while I was in graduate school in nearby Lexington (UK). Born October 4th, I discovered about that time that my natal saint is St. Francis of Assisi (see the 1972 Zefferelli film).

So, hey, I celebrate earth day! And to extend the celebration, look at these businesses with social entrepreneurs at the helm: for example, Better World Books, who we ship our weeded books to for reuse/recycling. Today they are offering a 20% discount, so yay!

Nice post. Earth Day should be everyday, it is good that there is at least one day to spread awareness. Here are some suggestions on what you can do to help the Earth: http://www.toptentopten.com/topten/things+to+do+on+earth+day, you can add your own suggestions.
